Portmeirion Village will once again host the Society of Physicians in Wales for our Spring Meeting on the 1st and & 2nd May 2026.
We traditionally start at 1300h on the Friday. The Bill Williams Memorial Lecture has been changed in recent years to perhaps reflect Dr Williams' deep affection for medical education and the trainee presentations are now in his honour.
We return to the Portmeirion Hotel for the conference meal at 1930h
The conference restarts on Saturday at 0930h
We will occupy the HERCULES HALL in the centre of the Portmeirion Village.
This is a prestigious venue in the middle of the village for which we have exclusive access for the two days of the conference.
Breaks are catered for fantastically by the Portmeirion staff with a light lunch on arrival followed by tea and coffee throughout the conference.
Sponsors are typically not invited to the meeting.
As always there will be a conference meal on the Friday evening. This is a perfect opportunity to meet old and new friends. As a "society built on friendship" the hierarchy normally associated with hospital medicine is routinely dispensed with.
There is limited hotel space in the Portmeirion Hotel and Village. We recommend booking early if you wish to attend. There are lots of alternative accommodation in Porthmadog, a few miles down the road from Portmeirion, including a Travel Lodge and Premier Inn which our members often use.
For those staying in Porthmadog, you can leave your car in the Portmeirion car park during the day, but it cannot be left overnight. We usually arrange taxi transport back to Porthmadog centre.
