A society should be formed and it will be called the “Society of Physicians in Wales”. Proposed by Dr Glan Davies, seconded by Dr Danino
Objects. Advancement of knowledge of general medicine and related subjects and the promotion of friendship amongst the members
Formed in 1951, the Society of Physicians in Wales was formed in Cardiff Royal Infirmary for "Advancement of knowledge of general medicine and related subjects and the promotion of friendship amongst the members". Originally a "closed shop" where consultants had be nominated for membership by their peers and consultants not involved in the acute medical intake (which at the time included Geriatricians!) the Society has modernised and promotes knowledge and friendship across established, training and aspiring physicians across Wales.
Our traditional spring meeting is held in May at Portmeirion in North Wales
The society completed its spring meeting in Portmeirion on 2/3rd May 2025. Details of the event can be seen in the "previous events" section.
As of early 2025 The Society no longer posts to Twitter/X
